Additionally, account information ingested from your CRM cannot be updated or replaced using this feature. These instructions apply solely to accounts uploaded manually or via CSV through the process outlined below.
Overview
The Account Uploader feature in Data Studio makes it simple to import account data into the Account Hub that is not already ingested through your CRM. Handling Errors During Upload
The system checks for common errors during the upload process:
-
Missing Information:
- You must enter a source name, at least one account name, and its associated domain. The Upload Accounts button will remain disabled if any of this information is missing.
-
Incorrect Column Headers:
- If your file’s column headers don’t match the required format, an error message will appear. To resolve, correct the headers and try again.
- If your file’s column headers don’t match the required format, an error message will appear. To resolve, correct the headers and try again.
-
Duplicate Account Names/Domains:
-
Domain as Primary Key:
The domain serves as the primary key for uploaded accounts and cannot be changed once entered. -
Changing Sources for Existing Accounts:
If you update an existing account (e.g., Account Name or Upload Source), the system will overwrite the entry with the new details. If a duplicate domain is detected, you will receive a warning identifying which source the domain currently exists in. If you choose to proceed and change the source, a prompt will confirm that you wish to move the account to the new source before continuing with the upload. -
Handling Duplicates:
- CSV Uploads: Duplicate domains will be automatically scrubbed, leaving only one entry in the upload table.
- Manual Entries: Duplicate domains will be highlighted for correction.
-
-
Invalid Domains:
-
We perform minimal validation of domain structure prior to upload. If the domain is missing a period (.), it will be flagged as invalid. You must correct the domain before the "Upload Accounts" button becomes enabled.
-
-
File Size Limit:
- For best results, keep your files under 2,000 rows to avoid potential timeouts during upload. Files exceeding this limit may fail to upload without displaying an error message.
Successful Upload
After your file is successfully uploaded:
-
Success Banner:
- A banner will summarize your upload, showing how many accounts were added, and how many were duplicates or updates.
- As noted above, it may take up to 24 hours for the accounts to appear in Data Studio.
-
Upload More Accounts to Existing Source:
- To add more accounts to the same source, select "Add to Existing Source" button and follow the steps outlined in the How to Upload Accounts section.
-
Update Account Names:
- To update the name of an existing uploaded account, select "Add to Existing Source" button, select the source where this account currently exists, type the new account name, and re-enter the existing domain. Note that the domain cannot be changed and CRM accounts cannot be updated.
-
Update Account Source:

-
